Absorb Turmeric Better
Turmeric is a spice that has been used in India
for a long time as a spice and therapeutic herb. It has powerful
anti-inflammatory effects and is an antioxidant. The compound with medicinal
property is called curcumin. Curcumin has therapeutic power in treatments for joint
pains, arthritis, reduces diabetes, and neuroprotective properties, including
improvement of cognition, decrease the chance to developing Alzheimer’s and
Parkinson’s etc. Unfortunately, curcumin is poorly absorbed into the blood
stream when taken alone. The good news is that there are ways you can enhance
its absorption. Here are two things you can do:
- . add black pepper. Black pepper contains piperine, which inhibit the metabolic breakdown of turmeric compounds in the gut and the liver. It allows higher levels of curcumin to remain in the body, increases its bioavailability, also, it boosts the absorption of curcumin by 20 times!
- .
add fat. Curcumin is fat soluble thus much better absorbed
when taken with fat, such as coconut milk or nuts.
The combination of turmeric, black and fat will
make it easier for body to absorb all the nutrients and get all the benefits.
